Eulogy for a Dream

There are days when the wind is stiff
And the sun is dim
The green of life is slightly pale
The air is cold
And you watch the decaying leaves on the sidewalk

They remind you of mortality
Of time spent that cannot be regained
Ever down the hourglass, to fade as memory
You think of opportunities passed by
And of those slipped beyond your grasp

I did not reach so far!
Did I so misjudge the distance?

No matter your station in life, there is hardship
(And it can be quite counter intuition)
Without the assent of another
Plans crushed
Experience delayed
Joy fades, afar
And you, left to sing an unheard eulogy for a dream
